Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Venture Debt Underwriter to evaluate credit risk, structure debt deals, and manage lending transactions for startups. The ideal candidate has a strong background in venture debt, revenue-based financing, and risk assessment, along with a deep understanding of early-stage company financials and alternative lending markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Analysis: Assess the financial health and creditworthiness of early-stage and high-growth companies.

  • Financial Modeling: Build detailed financial models to evaluate cash flow, debt servicing, and risk exposure.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks in venture debt and revenue-based financing transactions.

  • Due Diligence: Conduct in-depth financial, operational, and market due diligence.

  • Loan Structuring: Design customized lending solutions aligned with startup growth trajectories.

  • Portfolio Management: Monitor loan performance and risk exposure across multiple borrowers.

  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, venture capital, and alternative credit markets.

  • Reporting & Insights: Present credit memos, risk assessments, and investment recommendations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in venture debt underwriting, structured credit, or revenue-based financing.

  • Strong track record of assessing startup risk and structuring non-dilutive financing solutions.

  • Deep understanding of financial statements, credit metrics, and financial modeling.

Skills

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling.

  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and other data analysis tools.

  • Attention to detail and ability to evaluate complex financial scenarios.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Familiarity with venture capital, private credit, and structured finance markets.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 (base salary, depending on experience)
