Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Venture Debt Underwriter to evaluate credit risk, structure debt deals, and manage lending transactions for startups. The ideal candidate has a strong background in venture debt, revenue-based financing, and risk assessment, along with a deep understanding of early-stage company financials and alternative lending markets.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis: Assess the financial health and creditworthiness of early-stage and high-growth companies.
Financial Modeling: Build detailed financial models to evaluate cash flow, debt servicing, and risk exposure.
Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks in venture debt and revenue-based financing transactions.
Due Diligence: Conduct in-depth financial, operational, and market due diligence.
Loan Structuring: Design customized lending solutions aligned with startup growth trajectories.
Portfolio Management: Monitor loan performance and risk exposure across multiple borrowers.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, venture capital, and alternative credit markets.
Reporting & Insights: Present credit memos, risk assessments, and investment recommendations.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.

Experience

3-5+ years of experience in venture debt underwriting, structured credit, or revenue-based financing.
Strong track record of assessing startup risk and structuring non-dilutive financing solutions.
Deep understanding of financial statements, credit metrics, and financial modeling.

Skills

Strong quantitative and analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling.
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and other data analysis tools.
Attention to detail and ability to evaluate complex financial scenarios.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Familiarity with venture capital, private credit, and structured finance markets.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 (base salary, depending on experience)
